From Boulder, CO, Isabelle Faus has popped up on the scene, placing 2nd in the Bouldering Youth National Championships in 2011 and 3rd in 2013 for the Bouldering Open National Championships. In August 2015, Faus sent Amandla (8B+/V14) in Rocklands, South Africa, making her the 5th female ever to boulder V14. In the same year, she began working on The Wheel of Chaos, her second V14 and was able to achieve it in October 2016.
Without sponsors and still relatively unknown in the climbing world, Faus has still been able to make a name for herself. “My true gains came once I got out on the rock full time,” she said. “I learned an invaluable amount about executing [existing] climbs, exploring and finding new climbs, experimenting with beta, and always keeping it fun and low stress from Chad Greedy, Dave Graham, Diego Lopez Montull, and Nick Duttle.” 2017 has just started and we can’t wait to see what else Faus can accomplish!
