Michael Holmes has been climbing with Vertical Rock for 3+ years.
“Two of my sons invited me. The only problem is I was afraid of heights. After a couple weeks of mulling it over, I went with them. The first climb was hard, but I eventually realized that I have ropes and equipment that I can trust to keep me safe.”
Rock Climbing & the VR Community have been a great way for him to build confidence in his climbing and make a few friends along the way.
“One of my climber friends came in one Saturday and said that she had read an article that said it is better to be brave than to be perfect. Too much of life is spent just doing the things that we are perfect at — missing all of the opportunities to try new things. I look at new challenges differently now.
The routes are challenges or puzzles that have lots of solutions. My goal is to find one of those solutions.”
We’re so lucky to know Stanley and we welcome to say “Hi” to him next time you see him at the Gym!
“The Vertical Rock community has provided great friends and acquaintances that always have kind and uplifting
words for you. Folks that understand the power of cheering with you…
To the new climbers, climbing is easy. Climbing well, takes a little more practice. It might take two or three sessions before you start to get the hang of it. Don’t give up, it’s too much fun.”
