Pete Whittaker Rope Solos El Capitan

The climb began on November 11 and completed on the 12th making Pete Whittaker the first person to ever rope solo (all free) El Capitan in under 24 hours. To grasp the magnitude, Whittaker had to free climb, abseil, and jumar each pitch, essentially covering the ground three times. Now imagine having to do cover the space on a 3,000 ft high granite wall…

His ascent is both the first of its kind and also the first solo-free of El Cap in under a day which has set a new bar for his fellow climbers.
