This route looks to be insanely difficult and that, coupled with the fact that it’s raining throughout the video make this climb all the more impressive.
But what makes me really love this video is the calm that Jordan Buys brings to the table. You see a lot of climbers grunt and scream to get the most out of their bodies, and it’s definitely a useful strategy in some cases. However, as you watch this video you can see Buys’ mind working to lay out the route in his head and then using his strength and technique to get him through it. We’ve discussed the “flow state” before on this blog, and for me this is a great example of it.
