Petzl America Inc. has issued a recall for a popular belay device which they say is not functioning properly. The recall came following the return of one broken device from, of all people, a Navy SEAL.
“We figured to err on side of caution,” said John Evans, marketing director at Petzl.
The product in question is the GRIGRI 2 with assisted breaking, which is used by climbers to control the safety rope while being lowered or during a fall.
