Lead Climbing

Learn to Sport Lead Indoors

For those who are proficient on a top rope and can climb a 5.9 or above without stopping and resting on the rope, why not learn to lead climb?! Vertical Rock offers an introductory Lead Class. The class provides in-depth information and instruction on the safety and the techniques you need in order to Lead Climb. This class covers how to lead belay, clipping techniques, commands, rope management and falling safely.

Mandatory Sport Lead Test

Once you have mastered the art of Lead Climbing, you will then need to pass the VR lead test before being allowed to lead climb or lead belay in the VR Facility which will test you on lead climing safety. You must have the abiltiy and skill in order to demonstarte the proper clipping, rope management, falling and belaying. You will be required to demonstrate the proper catch. Lead Climbing tests must be scheduled in advance. Please contact the VR Team for more information.
